Admittedly, it is quite difficult to pull off that look. I don’t think I can personally. Though it can also work really well.
Never mixing washes (i.e don’t wear a dark wash pair of jeans with a jacket of a similar wash - though, again, this can work) and coupling them with a good pair of boots is probably the best advice I can offer.
